When developing on a local machine, you’ll sometimes need to gain access to files that Mac OSX hides by default.

To show hidden files, open up Terminal.app and type:

defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES

To see the changes you’ll need to restart Finder.app. The easiest way to do this is just to force quit Finder.app, and it’ll open up again automatically.

To reverse the changes, open Terminal.app again and type:

defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles NO
